Explorers Expansion Updates

We have some incredibly exciting news to share with our Durango community! Explorers Early Childhood Education is embarking on a major expansion project to tackle our region's childcare crisis head-on. We are moving from our temporary location into a permanent, purpose-built campus designed to nurture our youngest learners for generations to come.

Located at the corner of County Road 250 and Metz Lane (117 Metz Lane and 123 Metz Lane), our new facility will allow us to grow our impact by leaps and bounds. We are expanding from our current 12 preschool slots per day to 56 total slots per day, serving an estimated 75 children annually. Explorers will offer 16 desperately needed infant and toddler spots (6 infant slots and 10 toddler slots), alongside 40 expanded preschool slots. The new campus features a seamless learning continuum for ages 6 weeks to 6 years and will include Durango’s first dual language immersion program.

In addition to developmentally designed classroom spaces, this campus will feature a dedicated indoor spaces for art, science, and movement, an outdoor classroom, age-appropriate playgrounds, a full kitchen allowing a food program in the future, and on-site professional training opportunities. With the help of Responsive Designs, Elevation Custom Renovations, and many of our local businesses, we are creating a space the is true to our mission and invites families of all income levels to access premium early education.

We look forward to welcoming you all to our new home this fall, where every child can play, learn, and grow in an environment rooted in curiosity, creativity, and connection.
